Substance Addictions

90 percent of people who abuse or are addicted to nicotine, alcohol, or other drugs first started using substances before the age of 18. Because teens’ brains are still developing, it’s important that they stay away from the influences of drugs and alcohol. The impact that these substances can have on the brain can be substantial and have long-term effects, such as addiction. Here are some signs your teen could be using such substances:

  • Odor on your teen’s breath or clothing.
  • Declining and failing grades.
  • Depression.
  • Running away.

How Can Turn-About Ranch Help?

Many of our students come to us having already experimented with smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, or doing drugs. In fact, some have developed addictions by the time we get to work with them. Drug and alcohol addiction can have a strong influence on teens and lead to negative behavior. Our entire staff is dedicated to showing the teens who come to us the joys of life without the use of substances. As they learn to hold the reigns of our horses while riding, they’ll learn to take control of their own lives and how to find happiness outside of addiction.
