Sleep Disorder

Does your teen struggle with staying awake during class? Do they have trouble going to sleep at all? Teenagers should be getting 8 ½ hours of sleep. If this seems like a challenge for them, talk with your family’s doctor about their sleeping issues. There may be medical issues, like sleep apnea, keeping your teen from getting the sleep they need. If issues like PTSD or anxiety are keeping them from getting the right amount of rest, seeing a therapist would be ideal.

If your teen is consistently not getting enough sleep, it may negatively affect their mood, judgement, and overall behavior. If this is the case, and it seems beyond you and your teen’s control, it may be time to ask for help.
