Real Ranch. Real Values. Real Change.

In addition to providing practical life skills, Turn-About Ranch’s vocational program offers an alternative to students who may struggle in more traditional educational environments. The program prepares the students for further education in a technical setting as well as for the job market.

In all vocational classes, students learn safety, the proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment, and how to plan and work together to accomplish their tasks. These skills are applied and reinforced during the students’ daily ranch duties.

The Culinary Arts class takes place in the actual food service department and teaches students the importance of cleanliness and following directions. Among other benefits, the class prepares them for taking care of themselves and others.

Automobiles are a big investment for us all. Auto Mechanics class teaches students how to purchase and maintain their vehicles – and increases their ability to explore career opportunities in this field. They also learn about small engine repairs by working on lawn mowers.

In the Building Trades class, students learn about job opportunities that are related to construction. They learn how to plan projects, put material lists together, and build a structure.

Many young people today think of the computer as just another form of entertainment – but in the Information Technology class, our students explore the history of the computer, look inside one to see how it works, and then learn how to put these amazing machines to work in academic and professional settings.

In addition to developing skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives, students who participate in Turn-About Ranch’s vocational classes also develop the sense of self-worth that accompanies academic accomplishment and personal achievement.
