Turn-About Ranch - Residential Treatment for Teens on a Working Ranch
Real Ranch. Real Values. Real Change.
Realizing that a once-a-week session with a professional counselor is not always an effective intervention by itself, Turn-About Ranch uses the team approach and therapy takes place every day throughout the entire program. Our clinical team consists of therapists who are at least master's level and licensed, or who are in the process of obtaining a license in clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, or professional counseling. They are responsible for the treatment planning and progress of each student, conducting individual, group, and family sessions, maintaining contact with parents on a weekly basis, and conducting mid-term and graduation visits with families.
All the other staff are trained and experienced in supporting the clinical team, and communication takes place to make sure activities and projects are set up that will help students work towards their goals on a daily basis. An example of this may include a stubborn horse being assigned to a student who is stubborn and not willing to listen to or work with others. This helps the student learn to work with someone else and develop a relationship that helps them to realize that life isn't all about themselves and what they want, it's about working together towards a common goal. This theme is carried out through the entire program, which means changes are not just talked about, but put into practice to create lasting change.
