Turn-About Ranch - Residential Treatment for Teens on a Working Ranch
Real Ranch. Real Values. Real Change.
Turn-About Ranch is located in the middle of some of the most beautiful and unique landscape in North America. It is a great environment for the students to experience and learn from. The ranch is located next to the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and national forest, and minutes away from Capitol Reef National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and several state parks. We take advantage of this setting through hikes, horseback riding, and visiting historical sites to enhance the academic and therapeutic experiences.
We are surrounded by Native American history with many sites to visit where you can actually see, feel, and imagine what life was like at that time in history. There are several pre-historic sites, such as dinosaur tracks, fossil sites, and dinosaur bones. Students have even witnessed actual archaeological digs.
The area is rich in western heritage with old homes, stories, and even a ghost town. The landscape at the ranch is high desert with pinion pines, rugged sandstone canyons, and a creek. There is lower level desert with magnificent sandstone canyons and rock formations to the south and east and high elevation lush forest to the north and west with many small lakes.
Turn-About students learn to respect the land in its natural beauty and appreciate what it has to offer. Students participate in breathtaking hikes that give cold chills from vast view points where you can see for miles and miles and make you feel like you're on top of the world.
