Turn-About Ranch - Residential Treatment for Teens on a Working Ranch
Real Ranch. Real Values. Real Change.
Turn-About Ranch is located in the middle of some of the most beautiful and unique land in North America – a great environment for students to experience and learn from. The ranch is located next to the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and national forest, and is minutes away from Capitol Reef National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and several state parks. We take advantage of this setting – and enhance our students’ academic and therapeutic experiences – with hikes, horseback rides, and visits to nearby historical sites.
We are surrounded by places that are rich in Native American history, where students can actually see, feel, and imagine what life was like long ago. The area is also home to dinosaur tracks and bones and other fossil sites – and some students have even witnessed actual archaeological digs.
The landscape at the ranch is high desert with pinion pines, rugged sandstone canyons, and a creek. There is lower level desert with magnificent sandstone canyons and rock formations to the south and east, and high-elevation lush forest with many small lakes to the north and west. Turn-About students learn to respect the land, appreciate its natural beauty, and understand how significant it is.
Turn-About students learn to respect the land in its natural beauty and appreciate what it has to offer. Students participate in breathtaking hikes that give cold chills from vast view points where you can see for miles and miles and make you feel like you're on top of the world.
