Turn-About Ranch - Residential Treatment for Teens on a Working Ranch

Real Ranch. Real Values. Real Change.

UK's Channel 4 and Twenty Twenty Productions Follow-Up with the Teens from BRAT CAMP 2

How are some of the teens who attended Turn-About Ranch as part of Brat Camp 2 doing now?

Alex
The camp has made a huge difference not only to Alex's life but all our lives," Lisa says. "We are all much happier now and optimistic about the future. Alex is calmer and much more focused."

Jenni
Jenni, who gave the cowboys at Turnabout Ranch a good run for their money, seems like a different person. Getting on well with her mum for the first time since she was a baby, and studying for four A-levels, while holding down two part-time jobs, Jenni now admits that when she thinks back about her pre-Brat Camp behaviour "it makes me cringe." The camp has made a big difference. Her parents say she is happy and fun to be with, able to appreciate consequences.

Josh
Josh is no longer getting into punch ups with his dad triggered by drug abuse. Instead, Josh has already got himself enough GCSEs to begin his A-levels, and is looking forward to university. "It didn't change me," says Josh, "it just helped me find myself again."

His father says: "Josh always fell back on his art to express his feelings and deal with problems, brought about by muggings and bullying. Music was always useful in that it allowed Josh to forget about his problems. Since Brat Camp Josh has become an avid reader."

Joe
Before Brat Camp, his mum called Joe "a rebel without a clue", but when we caught up with him a year later, he was single-handedly organising a gig to raise money for Action Aid. He's now full-time at a specialist music college. Joe says he's not changed his views about "the system", but nowadays he does something about it, rather than just sit and complain.

The latest installment, BRAT CAMP 3, which is currently airing in the United Kingdom, focuses on seven girls whose behavior drives their frustrated parents to send them to the United States to get help.
